Our Beginning

Tarai Seed Company began in 1965 in Rudrapur, in the Tarai belt of Uttarakhand — the fertile foothills where the plains meet the Himalayas. What started as a small family seed business built its reputation the traditional way: shop by shop, farmer by farmer, season after season. The business was founded on a simple principle that still guides us — sell genuine seed, share honest information, and treat every customer as a neighbour.

Our Journey

Four generations later, the same family continues the work our founders started. Each generation learned the trade from the one before it — how to judge a good lot, which brands farmers ask for by name, and how the right seed choice changes a season. Today that experience supports a growing catalogue of Hybrid and Desi seeds across vegetable, grain, and fodder categories, alongside a digital storefront that makes the family’s knowledge easier to reach than ever before.

Our Location

We are based in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand — the heart of the Tarai plains. This region is one of North India’s most productive agricultural belts, and our location keeps us close to the farmers, retailers, and distributors we serve. Rudrapur’s position also gives us practical access to transport routes for dispatching orders across the country.

What We Offer

Our catalogue is organised into three main categories — vegetable seeds, grain seeds, and fodder seeds — each available in both Hybrid and Desi types, with seasonal browsing for summer, winter, and monsoon sowing. We distribute seed brands from established Indian and multinational companies, so customers can find the varieties they trust through a family business they can talk to.

Our Vision

Our mission is threefold: to grow the family business our grandparents built, to educate the younger generation about farming, and to help people reconnect with their agricultural roots. This website is part of that mission — it brings four generations of seed knowledge online in three languages, so that a student, a first-time grower, and an experienced farmer can all find what they need in the place they already are: their phones.

Pan-India Delivery

We deliver across India. Normal delivery is intended via India Post, and faster delivery may be offered at an additional charge where available. Because shipping costs depend on the destination, the size of the order, and the weight of the parcels, charges are confirmed with you before payment — never added silently. Orders begin on WhatsApp, where our team confirms availability, quantities, and the final amount.
